Humanoid Robot Steals The Show At Beijing AI Fair

A humanoid robot danced to music at a shopping mall in Beijing last month, part of an exhibition highlighting artificial intelligence (AI). A humanoid is a robot that looks and acts like a human.
The “AI temple fair” exhibition allowed local tech companies to showcase their products.
Robots from tech firm Unitree recently gained attention with a coordinated dance performance at China’s Spring Festival TV gala.
However, the mall robot, Xiao Xin, mostly stood still while moving its hips and arms. Nearby, a life-size robot dressed as a traditional god of wealth answered a visitor’s question about what it liked to eat for breakfast.
Not everything at the fair was impressive. Two semi-automated football teams struggled to perform.
Cheng Cheng, a software engineer at Booster Robotics, said the company is focused on improving hand and foot movements with AI.
